Mark’s Special Mission in Arlington National Cemetery, is written by Gregory P. Keeney and illustrated by Robert Gantt Steele, is a notable tribute to our military families and our service members who served a cause greater than themselves, and whose

extraordinary sacrifice we honor in Arlington National Cemetery (ANC). This story is told through the perspective of an older veteran whose dear friend is laid to rest in ANC. The story provides the reader access to the stables, horses and Soldiers of The Old Guard's Caisson Platoon, and give a unique perspective of the behind the scenes preparations. The character, compassion and dedication of the team of Soldiers and horses that reflect the steadfast commitment to honor the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen who served our nation, and respect America has for their family. Robert Gantt Steele’s engaging illustrations bring the story of Mark's Special Mission to life with warmth, compassion, and vitality. Greg and Robert spent time together in June 2013 developing the story's narrative and illustrations when they visited The Old Guard's stables on Fort Myer, Virginia. They personally observed the Soldiers as they methodically and meticulously prepared the Horses and the Caisson for the day, and then depart on their solemn mission mission in the cemetery. A truly inspiring experience shared by both Greg and Robert! People's hearts heal through a variety of means. Being around the horses and engaging with them provides a special healing power given their incredible beauty, power and playfulness. Greg and Robert hope the story will inspire people to visit the stables, meet the remarkable Soldiers and incredible Horses, and learn about what the Caisson Platoon of the US Army’s Old Guard do to honor our fallen. The Old Guard's stables at Fort Myer, Virginia are open to the public Tuesday-Sunday. Mark’s Special Mission is published by Mascot Books. We like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported our efforts over the last decade+ 🇺🇸

Kelly and I attended our first U.S. Air Force Aid Society Gala a decade ago, it’s always a terrific night of “winning” for everyone. This year was equally fun, glad we were able to participate in person, tremendous stories told by the Airmen & Guardians who benefitted from the Aid Society’s generosity. ❤️

Absolutely fun night!

Again, THANK YOU from our blessed hearts & mind. 😉
