Cleco Business Customers Be Aware of Demand Billing from Cleco. See Below
CLECO
Dear CLECO Customer,
Cleco commercial and industrial customers who use large amounts of electricity may be placed on a Demand Rate to cover higher peak loads. Many electric utilities have a Demand Rate to recover the expenses associated with making that power available to certain customers when needed. Demand Rate billing is based on the maximum amount of electricity used at any given point during a billing period, which is the customer’s peak usage for that month.
In accordance with Cleco’s General Service Rate Schedule filed with the Louisiana Public Service Commission, Cleco customers who use 5,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or more for four (4) consecutive months will be placed on a Demand Rate.
Our records show your usage exceeded 5,000 kWh during the most recent billing period. If your account is placed on a Demand Rate, you will continue to be billed an Energy Charge for the electricity used but also a Demand Charge for the maximum amount of electricity delivered (i.e., peak usage). This Demand Charge will remain on your bill until your monthly usage remains under 5,000 kWh for twelve (12) rolling months.
This is a one-time courtesy letter. You will not receive additional notifications regarding your monthly usage. We encourage you to monitor and manage your usage to avoid a Demand Rate being added to your bill. For information regarding Cleco’s energy efficiency programs, go to www.cleco.com. If you have questions or need more information, please contact our Billing Department at (888) 766-4462. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sincerely,
Cleco’s Customer Service Team
