Last month, Alexandria Clerk-Treasurer, Darcy VanErman, was notified via email that Taft Law, the firm representing the City of Alexandria, would no longer be representing her under their contract and agreement with the city.
Alexandria City attorney, Cho-Il Lee of Taft, told the BOW members the legal team was satisfied with the verbiage of the agreement assuring Indiana laws and jurisdiction would be followed.

Ousley’s celebrate retirement

In the early 1990’s, local grain farmer, Wayne Ousley, along with his wife, Sherri, began renting space on the property on S. Park Avenue, from the Lamberjacks to put up a red and white tent to begin selling sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes, and melons grown on their farm. In 1995 the couple was able to purchase the property.

The Alexandria Trailer Park officially has new owners as Ryan and Kate Burns, which closed on the property Tuesday morning.

The Burns, of Salt Lake City, Utah, bring experience owning and operating apartment complexes and affordable housing units; however, this is the first trailer park the couple will own. Ryan jokingly said, “We have forty years’ experience with trailer parks; and it is all with her.” He was referring to Cindy Hisle, who has and will continue to serve as the park manager.

As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2026, it is easy to think of the Revolutionary era as distant history. In Madison County, however, that history once lived in the daily life of a man whose story is still documented in local records.

Moses Maynard, a longtime resident of Monroe Township, died June 15, 1874, in Madison County, Indiana, at an age reported between 107 and 108 years. He was widely regarded as the oldest man in the county, and possibly the state of Indiana.

Molly S. McCoy, 46, of Alexandria, was arrested following an Indiana State Police investigation concerning a weekend party at her home where she is accused of providing alcohol and ma*****na to underage juveniles.

The investigation began when McCoy’s soon to be ex-husband notified State Police that sometime during summer months, McCoy had provided alcohol and ma*****na v**e pens to their 14-year-old daughter and some of her friends at his home while he was out of town.
