Getting lost in a magical story was a hallmark of my childhood. I loved reading, wandering through libraries and spending countless moments with my grandmothers, immersed in books and imagination. Even then, I knew I carried stories in my heart. I longed to create the same sense of wonder I felt whenever I was swept away by a good book.
In 2023, I made the decision to publish my first children’s book. I didn’t know exactly where to begin, but I knew one thing with certainty: maintaining creative control and ownership of my work was deeply important to me. I believed in my stories and my vision and the idea of trying to convince someone else that they mattered never felt aligned.
That’s how Mahara House Publishing was born.
I chose to self-publish my work. I thought, if I could publish peer-reviewed research papers, how different could this be? As it turns out—very different. The learning curve was steep, but what better way to learn than by doing? And I learned a lot through the process of bringing my first books to life.
There is nothing quite like watching your vision unfold—seeing early sketches from your illustrator, and eventually holding that very first proof copy in your hands. To witness something that once lived only in your imagination become a tangible, physical book is surreal. That feeling never fades. It continues to inspire me to keep writing, creating, and dreaming.
Along this journey, so many of you—beautiful, creative souls—have reached out for guidance and support. I’ve had the privilege of helping some of you bring your own stories to life, and it has been incredibly meaningful.
With that, I’m excited to share that Mahara House Publishing is expanding.
This next chapter feels like a natural evolution; one rooted in our mission to support emerging authors, poets, and visionaries in bringing their stories into the world and into the hands and hearts of readers everywhere.
We are now officially open for submissions. Whether you are at the very beginning of your writing journey or ready to bring a completed manuscript to life, we are here to support you at every stage of the process. We offer the opportunity to publish under Mahara House Publishing, while also empowering authors who wish to maintain full independence by guiding them in building and launching their own publishing platforms. However your story is meant to be shared, we are here to help you bring it to life.
