Sam had to leave town for a few days and of course I miss her so much. I MISS HOLDING HER HAND!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Holding hands is a love language. We hold hands SO much–– walking down the street, standing in line at the grocery store, in the car, on the couch binge watching our favorite shows, standing in the kitchen right before a long embrace, & even occasionally in our sleep. It feels like a magnetic pull, an effortless force.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thinking about how often this occurs for us, and how good it feels to connect this way really puts into perspective how it might feel if this simple sweet gesture wasn’t an option. The sad truth is that for some people in the LGBTQ community, it isn’t. In some countries same s*x relationships are illegal and can lead to some pretty terrible consequences including capital punishment. People in my community are still fighting for the right to love freely and openly. The basic human right to openly love whoever you want isn’t so basic in some parts of the world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are so grateful to have the privileged to openly express our love and pride! We get to express our pride any way we want to — by publicly holding hands, walking around like a whole vibe in our PRIDE sandals, and being hella affectionate in public whenever we feel like it. We have come so far but the work is not done until everyone on planet earth gets to love freely, openly and unapologetically.

I can’t wait until I get to pick Sam up from the airport and hold her hand again IMMEDIATELY!
