I got a care package!

Virginia sent me this package to support me as I continue working toward my goal of walking the Rocket City Half Marathon, and it honestly meant so much to me.

There’s something really special about having someone believe in what you’re working toward and want to support you along the way.

So this video is a little unboxing, a little thank-you, and a whole lot of appreciation.

Virginia, thank you so much for thinking of me, supporting me, and cheering me on as I keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I appreciate you more than you know.

Day 151 of showing up for myself.

I started early this morning and got in a 6.01-mile walk, or 9.67 kilometers, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Time: 3:06:29.

And honestly, I felt really strong today.

Six miles is a lot of walking, and being able to finish this distance while feeling strong is a pretty big deal for me. These are the workouts that remind me why I keep showing up, even when things aren’t always easy.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress.

And with 95 days until I walk the Rocket City Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday, December 13th, there’s still plenty of work to do.

But today was a good day.

One walk. One workout. One day at a time.

Keep showing up.

There are a lot of reasons I’m walking the Rocket City Half Marathon on December 13th. Rocket City Marathon

I want to keep losing weight. I want to build my endurance. I want to be able to do more with the people I love. I want to eventually run. I want to reconnect with the running community.

But underneath all of those reasons is one simple thing:

I want to see what my life looks like if I keep showing up for myself.

This journey has never been just about a number on the scale. It’s about building a life I actually want to live.

So that’s my why.

What are you showing up for?

Day 150 of showing up for myself.

Happy Labor Day!

Today I swam 1,800 yards, or about 1.65 kilometers, in 1 hour and 3 minutes at Lakeshore Foundation.

For today’s swim, I’m also giving you a closer look at some of the equipment I’ve been using in the pool: my HoloSport smart swim goggles and HandPlus heart rate monitor.

The HoloSport goggles allow me to track my swim while I’m in the water, while the HandPlus monitor gives me real-time heart rate information. The goggles also give me the ability to listen to audio while I swim, which is exactly what I did today.

I spent my swim listening to the audiobook Living with No Excuses by Noah Galloway.

It was a great way to spend an hour in the pool: get my workout in, track my effort, and listen to something inspiring at the same time.

And now there are just 97 days until I walk the Rocket City Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday, December 13th.

97 days to go.

Thanks for continuing to follow my journey and watch me keep showing up.

Ran into a local content creator superstar this morning on my walk: Chip Creates It was a pleasure to meet you and I love your videos. I look forward to them every day.

Day 148 of showing up for myself.

Today I walked 3.10 miles, or about 4.99 kilometers, outside the Birmingham CrossPlex in 1 hour and 26 minutes.

And somewhere around mile two, I ran into Chip from Chip Creates Bham. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes, which was a pretty cool surprise in the middle of my walk.

That’s one of the things I enjoy about getting out and walking. You never know who you’re going to run into or what little moments are going to happen along the way.

And now there are just 100 days until I walk the Rocket City Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday, December 13th.

100 days.

The countdown is officially into double digits.

I’m going to keep putting in the work, one walk and one day at a time.

Thanks for following along with me. What are you showing up for today?

Day 147 of showing up for myself.

Today I swam 1,800 yards (1.65 km) in 1 hour and 1 minute in an Olympic-sized pool.

This natatorium is an incredible facility, with ten 50-meter lanes, ten 25-meter lanes, and twenty 25-yard lanes, plus diving boards, advanced timing equipment, and seating for more than 1,000 spectators.

I’m grateful to have access to a place where I can keep working on my endurance and keep moving toward my goals.

And with 101 days until I walk the Rocket City Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday, December 13th, every workout matters.

One day at a time. One workout at a time. Just keep showing up.
