Vikas Yadav, an MBA graduate, has turned his passion for sustainability into a groundbreaking environmental project in Rajasthan. He transformed 40 acres of barren land into a thriving mini-forest, planting over 1.5 million trees to combat climate change and restore biodiversity. By incorporating a mix of indigenous and fruit-bearing trees, Vikas has created a sanctuary for wildlife and a source of income for local communities. Using Google tools, he carefully planned, monitored, and tracked the growth of the trees to ensure their survival and long-term impact. His work not only focuses on carbon sequestration but also demonstrates how education, technology, and determination can address environmental challenges. Vikas's journey highlights the transformative power of afforestation and individual action in safeguarding the planet’s future.

Permaculture is a design philosophy that involves working with nature to create sustainable ways of living..
Permaculture is based on a set of design principles that are derived from whole-systems thinking. Some of these principles include:
●Observing and interacting
●Catching and storing energy
●Obtaining a yield
●Applying self-regulation and accepting feedback
●Using and valuing renewable resources and services
●Producing no waste

Every summer, we watch sprinklers soak acres of grass—billions of gallons of water, just to keep a lawn green. But what if that water was growing food instead? 💦 🥦🌽🥕🍅🍏🫛
We get it, the kids need to run—but imagine if every patch of unused grass, every perfectly trimmed hedge, was replaced with something that could nourish a family. Tomatoes instead of turf. Strawberries instead of sod. Blueberries in place of hedges.
Lawns don’t feed communities, but gardens do. They don’t build resilience, but food forests can. And in a world where grocery prices climb and food insecurity grows, wouldn’t it make more sense to use our land for something that gives back?
We have the space. We have the water. The question is—what are we really growing?

ALERT: Your yard cleanup could wipe out an entire generation of native Pollinators! 🐝 Depending on where you Live in the world, most relevant to those in North America/Northern Hemisphere but this excellent advice applies wider 🌎
SHOCKING FACTS:
- 80% of native bees nest in dead plant stems
- One stem can house up to 20 pollinator larvae
- Early cleanup destroys 6 months of bee development
- Native bees are worth $2000 per yard in pollination
What's Really Living in Your "Messy" Yard:
1. Hidden Residents:
- Mason bee cocoons
- Leafcutter bee nests
- Native wasp larvae
- Beneficial predator eggs
2. Critical Areas to Protect:
🌿 Hollow plant stems
🍂 Leaf litter piles
🌱 Standing perennials
🌸 Seed heads
3. How to Help:
- Wait until May to clean up
- Leave 15" stem heights
- Create brush piles
- Mark pollinator areas
YOUR ACTION PLAN:
✅ Stop all cleanup until 50°F consistent temps
✅ Bundle and store cut stems
✅ Create "pollinator corners"
✅ Educate your neighbors
REMEMBER:
A messy yard is a thriving ecosystem!

A second park is planned for near Garfield Elementary School in spring 2025.
There are several community gardens in Port Huron, including:
●Seed and Soul Society

Strong, sustainable, and effective in comparison to wooden pallets, Michiel Vos, the founder of CocoPallet, is transforming the logistics industry by creating eco-friendly shipping pallets made entirely from coconut husks. These innovative pallets offer a biodegradable and sustainable alternative to traditional wooden pallets, significantly reducing the need for deforestation.
CocoPallet also adds value to agricultural byproducts, providing extra income opportunities for farmers in coconut-rich countries like the Philippines and Indonesia. With billions of coconuts harvested annually, this solution repurposes what would otherwise be waste into something impactful and useful.
Designed for durability, the pallets are produced without synthetic resins, using heat and pressure to create a strong, sustainable product that is not affected by moisture either. By turning coconut waste into a practical solution, CocoPallet is addressing environmental challenges and supporting local economies worldwide. 🌍
