BREAKING NEWS: UMTPD School Resource Officers caught in a high-stakes tug-of-war with… education.

Officer Bill has anchored himself to the “Pole of Eternal Summer,” with Officer Nick and Officer Julia acting as human reinforcements. But LT. Pete, the Supreme Commander of the School Bell, is determined to drag them into the school year whether they like it or not.

Reports indicate they eventually made it to class… but only after promising extra recess and an endless supply of chocolate milk.

Joking aside, the UMTPD would like to wish all of our Upper Macungie students a safe and successful 2025-2026 school year. We also can't thank our local teachers, district administrators, and bus drivers enough for their hard work and dedication.

As students head back to school, the Bethlehem Police Department reminds everyone to keep safety in mind:

Slow down in school zones and obey crossing guards.

Watch for children walking, biking, or getting on and off buses.

Parents, review safety tips with your kids—look both ways before crossing, never talk to strangers, and always wear a helmet when biking.

We wish all students, teachers, and families a safe, successful, and fun school year!
