The purpose of this public hearing is to gather citizen input regarding wastewater treatment system options. This is in response to the Georgia EPD’s order to renew the wastewater treatment permit and upgrade the current treatment process. The City will also discuss and demonstrate the operations of the current land application wastewater treatment system.

***This meeting will discuss House Bill 581.
House Bill 581 is a Georgia law that introduces a statewide floating homestead exemption, limiting annual increases in the assessed value of homesteaded properties to the rate of inflation. It also allows local governments to implement a sales tax to provide property tax relief, subject to voter approval. The bill aims to make property taxes more predictable and equitable while providing local governments the flexibility to manage tax revenue.
