According to reports, approximately 600,000 acres have burned due to the current fires in Nebraska. Gov. Jim Pillen has declared a state of emergency and has issued a state wide burn ban until March 27th.
The Governor has called the Morrill Fire the biggest in Nebraska history. It has claimed 460,000+ acres. The Cottonwood Fire, near Gothenburg, has burned 100,000+ acres and the Anderson Bridge Fire in Cherry County has burned 6,000+ acres.
*By Oxford Fire and Rescue - Oxford Fire and the South Central Wildland Taskforce headed to Brady this evening for another shift at the Cottonwood Fire. Joined by Arapahoe Fire & Rescue Department, Wilsonville-Hendley Rural Fire District, Beaver City Volunteer Fire Department, Alma volunteer Fire & Rescue - Alma Nebraska, and Edison volunteer fire department.
*Stamford Rural Fire Department firefighters sent three firefighters and one truck Friday.
