These and so many other animals need loving, forever homes this holiday season.
Dear Santa Paws,
I overheard the little humans in my foster home talking about writing you a letter so I thought I might need to write one too. I hope I am sending it to the right place. Facebook is near the North Pole, right??
My name is Sherwood and I am a 4lb. Dachshund mix. I have been a really good puppy. I know so because I always hear my foster mommy say "Good boy, Sherwood." Anyway, I was hoping you might bring me something special for my first Christmas. I like the rope thingies and squeaky thingies (I like the shoe thingies too but foster mom says those are not toys), but above all else, I would really like a forever home.
You see, Santa, I lived outside in the dirt for the first 3 1/2 months of my life. I watched the coyotes come and take two of my siblings. My Mommy and Daddy tried to protect us but the chains they lived on were not long enough to reach us.
Then, one day, some angels came by to visit. They were delivering dog houses and hay to pups like me who live outside during the cold winter months. They talked to my owners who agreed to let me leave with them. I heard them use the word "rescue." Not sure what that means but next thing I knew I was at a vet's office getting shots. Then, it was off to my warm, cozy foster home. My foster mom bought me a bed...Ahhhhh...so much nicer than the cold, hard ground. She also gave me some food that is supposed to make me grow big and strong. My previous owners were giving me cat food but this puppy food is sooooo much yummier!!
Anyway, Santa, I would really love to have a real home to grow up in. I want a family to call my own. Do you have any of those in your workshop?? Santa, if you can bring me a forever family I promise I will make sure they leave you extra cookies and milk every year and I promise I won't steal the cookies when no one is looking...well, I promise I will try really hard not to.
I better let you get back to your work. I know you have lots of letters to read. Thanks for reading mine.
