Lidar in Laos! In 2020 the Agence Française de Développement (ADF) approved a grant for over 3.4 million EUR for a massive heritage preservation and development project in Champassak centered around one of the region's most spectacular monuments - Wat Phu! I was part of the team invited by the Lao authorities and the Ecole Francaise d’Extreme-Orient (EFEO) to oversee a lidar acquisition over Wat Phu and the surrounding areas. Follow along as I share our adventure into Laos, during the middle of a pandemic!
The Lidar acquisition is part of the Champa Project, a collaboration of the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) with the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and tourism, funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The field mission received support from the European Research Council (ERC) Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (896092) and ERC archaeoscape.ai Project (866454)
