Altadena Rotary's meeting August 7, 2025 was mostly dedicated to saying goodbye to one of our community's best friends since the Eaton fire, Army Corps of Engineers' Colonel Sonny Avichal. We sang 'The Army Song"; Dawn Smith, Jose Valenzuela (of Grocery Outlet), Hank and Peter Huisking (retired Army), Mark Mariscal, and Victoria Knapp (current Chair of Altadena Town Council) lauded Col. Sonny, Hank and Peter Huisking handed out pins and ribbons to the family; and then the Colonel spoke.

Tom McCurry visited the Club having moved 5 years ago. Victoria Knapp's sons gave Col. Archival sons Legos thanking them for lending Col. Sonny to our cleanup efforts for the last four months. And Sabrina Verduzco awarded Veronica Brown a Rotary Restore Altadena grant for Impact LA. Photos by Deb Halberstadt
