Meet The Bloomin’ Idiot 2025 grow team!
Here on the farm we have an absolutely amazing staff that works around the clock to bring our customers amazing service and products. So how about we introduce our 2025 staff!

Philip Day, Owner and Idiot in Charge:
With a deep love for flowers, horticulture, and people, The Bloomin’ Idiot is just the right place for Philip! He’s got quite the green thumb, and loves experimenting with new varieties. His artistic eye is handy when he’s arranging bouquets or decorating Christmas wreaths. Philip’s favorite thing working on the farm is all the smiles people have when they see the flowers! “I always try to have a smile on my face to spread Joy everywhere I go, and the flowers are just another way to spread that Joy for me."

Miss Day, Idiot in Training:
“I love my job," Miss Day informed us. “Being in the background is just what I like. I’m not very out-going, so the background is perfect. Whether it's weeding, planting, cutting flowers, watering, or running the farm for a few weeks while the boss is out of town, I really enjoy what I do.” Miss Day is an invaluable person on the farm and she does a lot to help us out!

Hannah Williamson, Editor of Idiocy (and cheer team):
Hannah had experience with plants herself many years ago when she helped with the family garden. She especially enjoys healing plants and herbs, but loves hearing how the business is doing for her younger siblings. Hannah has a passion for reading, language arts, and grammar, so becoming the business editor really fits. And her no-nonsense approach helps to tame the sometimes wild ideas of the Idiot in Charge. She has also been a huge encouragement and helps us think outside the box!

How The Bloomin’ Idiot got its name…

It’s a long story, as most name stories are, but I’ll give you the short version!

I have always loved growing plants! I began taking care of our family vegetable garden when I was about 7 years old. I loved it, but didn’t have the desire to do really well with it. I made the garden work out, but it took awhile. Then I started growing flowers and that was awesome! So I decided to start a flower farm. After lots of brainstorming for ideas and planning, I decided to go through with it. But in the process of putting it all together came the hard part…picking a name for my business! We discussed hundreds of names but none of them really seemed to fit. Now, if you know me, you know I have a long history of being a little ditzy and sometimes I don’t really think things through before I do them. So, my older sister suggested The Bloomin’ Idiot…all in love, of course, she says. It fit perfectly, as I can be a little bit of an idiot sometimes...and it’s a flower farm so things are always bloomin’. And so The Bloomin’ Idiot was born!

Thank you!

What’s Going on this year: By the Idiot in Training

Tulips: In late September and early October of 2024, we planted about 2,500 Tulip bulbs. Our tulip season will start in April, which is when most of our tulips start bloomin’. This year we are going to have something new and offer pre-order tulips so you will be sure to get yours! We will notify our customer base when pre-orders open.

Hanging Baskets: Our hanging basket season starts in May. We will again work with local growers to bring Hanging Baskets to our customers, making sure they are up to our farm standards. We will then take them to the Farm where they will be Bloomin’. We will have these available at Farmer's Markets and the Farm for pick-up.

Mixed bouquets: Our cut flower season starts in June & goes through July. When flowers start bloomin’, then our main season has begun. With nearly EIGHTEEN THOUSAND flowers bloomin’ over the months of June and July, we will have them available by order and at the Farmer's Markets! Flower season is when it really gets fun because we get to go out every morning before the sun comes up & pick flowers! YAY, early morning.

August is a pause: Now comes a break (thankfully!), while we prepare for the next seasons on the Farm. If we didn’t have this time, we wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much as we do.

Mums: Mum season starts in early September, and goes through late October. We will once again partner with local growers to provide these mums. We will select the best potted mums we can, so we get the best quality for our customers. They will also be available for pickup on the Farm shortly after we get them, or selected Farmer's Markets.

Live Christmas Wreaths & Trees: Cedar/Fir/Evergreen wreath & tree season starts in late November and continues through mid-December. We do start preparing for this time well before that however, there is a great deal to do both before & after this season.

Wreath Making parties: This season starts in mid-November, shortly after our live wreaths become available. Here’s what we do at a Wreath party...

The Hostess: Plans the party and gets to invite whomever they wish. They also provide snacks & drinks.
Party Attendees: Make their own wreath (or two!) and decorate it however they wish. Have fun, eat snacks, make memories with friends, family, or co-workers.
The Bloomin’ Idiot: Provides the wreath making supplies, tree boughs, wreath clamping machine, wreath rings, wreath care cards, decorations & ribbons for wreaths, & step-by-step instructions for wreath-making.

And so end our various seasons, just in time to begin planning for 2026!

A year in Review by the Idiot In Charge

WOW! What a year it has been! It flew by so fast. We worked crazy hours...spending early mornings and late evenings picking flowers...late nights crunching numbers and doing paperwork..countless hours taking notes and classes to better serve our customers…watched countless videos on every gardening subject under the sun so we would better know how to grow certain flower varieties or get rid of pests…days crunching numbers to make sure we could produce reasonably priced flowers to our customers that would still turn a profit…hundreds of hours to develop our Instagram and Facebook posts…it was tiring, that’s for sure! We made mistakes, of course, but that’s sometimes the best way to learn, and sometimes it’s the only way to learn! It just makes us more prepared for 2025 and all it will bring. We have spent months preparing and planning for our 2025 growing season and supply. It was a year, for sure, but I am so ready for 2025 and I’m excited to do it all over again!

Thank you all for your continued support of The Farm and The Bloomin’ Idiot Staff!

Merry Christmas from The Bloomin' Idiot!!!

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
