Thanks all for your kind birthday wishes. Your presence and friendship are very special to me on this birthday as someone very special is not here to celebrate with me.
Most may not know that my mom, Freeda Bowers, and I have the same birthday. Or, in other words, I was born on her birthday. Being born on mom’s birthday was always special for me because she loved to celebrate others and share everything she had—even to sharing, or giving away her birthday lime-light. Mom loved community and relationship. For her, gathering people, cooking and feeding them was her ‘happy place’. For mom, every meal was an opportunity for celebration and being together. She loved to create an environment where there was food and openness of spirit for people to talk and laugh, create and speak, express and experiment.
In adulthood, our birthdays were less and less a big deal. Nevertheless, she always wanted to make sure I knew I was loved and cherished and that December 27 was her extra-special day because she could share it with me—our day to share together. For now, her birthdays have served their purpose and she is with Jesus, until we see each other again in the new Heavens and new Earth (Revelation 21.)
