Did you try to stay up and watch the Jerry Lewis Telethon for MDA? It meant two things for me: Labor Day weekend had arrived; and school started the next day (on Long Island). I remember the first year, when the toteboard didn't have enough spaces and they hit a million dollars, Jerry went over to the set and slapped a 1 on with paint (he repeated that years later on Las Vegas when they also went past the toteboard's capacity). There were eventually 213 stations on "The Love Network," including WTAJ here. Think what you will of Lewis, but he helped raise a lot of money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's research. And, you don't need a telethon if you still want to donate - just go to MDA.org. Did you know there's a YouTube channel that replays some of the MDA and other telethons? If you want some classic showbiz, go to https://www.youtube.com/ . Bonus points if you can name each of the celebrities in the Al Hirschfeld artwork below vvvv

About Sears homes:

🏠 Did you know you could order an entire house from the Sears catalog?
Between 1908 and 1940, Sears, Roebuck and Co. sold approximately 70,000 mail-order kit houses across the United States.

Families could browse a catalog, choose a home design, and have the materials shipped directly to their property. The kits included thousands of pieces—lumber, doors, windows, hardware, and even the nails—ready to be assembled into a new home.

These houses came in a remarkable variety of styles, from simple cottages to spacious two-story homes. For many Americans, the Sears catalog made homeownership more accessible and brought modern housing within reach of ordinary families.

And the most fascinating part? Many of these Sears homes are still standing today. 🏡

Imagine opening a catalog over 100 years ago and picking out the place you would one day call home!

🏡 REAL ESTATE HISTORY FACT! 🎬
Did you know the iconic Hollywood Sign wasn’t originally created for Hollywood?

Back in 1923, the famous landmark began as an outdoor advertisement reading “HOLLYWOODLAND”—promoting a new local real estate development. 🏠🌴

The sign was only intended to be temporary, but it became one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.

Pretty amazing when you think about it: a real estate advertisement became a piece of history. 🤯

It just goes to show that great real estate marketing has a way of making an impression!
