From Dave DiCello Photography over Pittsburgh

What a fun morning in Pittsburgh today. This is a view of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from Cape Canaveral this morning, carrying Starlink satellites into orbit. As it went up the coast it was visible over the city, and the West End was the perfect place to capture it.

I've tried numerous times to capture a rocket launch over the city, and succeed only one other time. Either the launch has been scrubbed, conditions didn't work out here, or I couldn't make it into the city. The launch also has to happen around sunrise, as the sun has to be over the horizon to illuminate the exhaust from the rocket.

Luckily the timing of this one was perfect, and Dustin McGrew Photography gave me a heads up that it was happening (I'm sure you'll see his image soon, as he has these down to a science). The rocket was visible for just over a minute over the city, and luckily the best part was when it was centered above downtown.

I'll have a timelapse and video to share as well, but this one was my favorite. Thanks Dustin!

Jimmy Kimmel Live has been pulled (tfn) by ABC over a threat to drop the show on ABC stations owned by Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (owners of WTAJ)

Nexstar Media, one of the largest U.S. TV station owners, said it will pull ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live" after his remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

"Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division. “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue."
