Are you a fan of The Thing (2011)?
Often mislabeled as a remake, this prequel to John Carpenter’s classic is far better than what most give it credit for.
The attention to detail and continuity in this film is amazing. The sets are as close to perfect as can be without having blueprints or floor plans from the 1982 film.
With a great story and a stacked cast, The Thing was created with mostly all practical effects. After poor test screenings, the studio execs opted to layer CGI and digital effects over almost everything in the film. Which ironically, had the complete opposite result of what they were hoping for.
