This message was posted on the Cherokee High School timeline today:

With the possibility of severe weather for our area tomorrow, CPS will open the elementary with the issuing of a tornado warning from the national weather service. Please feel free to take shelter in the basement of the school. We hope this isn’t needed but are glad to be able to offer a safe place to ride out a storm if conditions create a weather emergency.

Congratulations to the graduating seniors of Alva High School. Best wishes and thanks for the memories.

Hey Woodward! You're going to want to save the date for this one! Darci Lynne & Friends - Fresh Out of The Box is coming your way! This fun event is happening on Saturday, August 10th at 8:00pm at Crystal Beach Stadium.

Winning NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” at just 12-years old by the most votes for a final performance in the history of the show, singer/ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer impresses audiences across the country with her sweetheart disposition and undeniable, show-stopping talent beyond her years. Accompanied by her musical friends including a divaesque rabbit: Petunia, a shy and soulful mouse: Oscar and a sarcastic old woman: Edna. Singing through her friends helped the young entertainer find a voice inside she didn’t know she had, and helped her overcome a lifelong struggle with shyness. An Oklahoma native, Darci began participating in talent-based pageants at a young age, and picked up ventriloquism shortly after. Two weeks later, Darci began tackling talent shows, eventually making it to the biggest talent show on television, NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Following her big win, she has been featured on NBC’s “Little Big Shots,” Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship,” “Ellen” and “TODAY.” Her first Christmas special “Darci Lynne: My Hometown Christmas” will air on NBC this December. Darci and her friends are continually on the road bringing smiles to audiences across the country. In 2019 Darci will hit the road for her Fresh Out of the Box Tour. For dates and the latest information, visit www.darcilynne.com.

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 13 at 10:00am CDT at the link below:

From NWS Norman. 7:00 PM - here's a technical update about the developing situation. If you want to skip the technical details, here's a summary:

- Storms that will eventually have the potential to produce tornadoes are increasing across western Oklahoma. The tornado threat will be highest for the next few hours.

- When storms eventually form into a line, there will still be a risk of some weaker very brief tornadoes.

Now the gory details:

Quick update on the mesoscale environment. Radar shows the boundary now extends from near Blackwell to Pond Creek to Waynoka to just south of Buffalo, and continues to slowly drift south. Storm coverage is greatest north of the boundary and the primary hazard will be heavy rainfall/flooding and large hail with these storms.

Further south, surface based discrete storms are increasing across western Oklahoma and the eastern Texas Panhandle. As low-level shear gradually trends upward, the tornado threat will increase. The best window for tornadoes should begin in the next hour or so and continue until upscale growth occurs and discrete modes lessen.

Once this happens, we'll have to watch for QLCS tornado potential. But, the 0-3-km shear magnitude and orientation isn't the most favorable for QLCS tornadoes. The best chance of one happening would be near local surges/rear-inflow jets or segments of the line that can become oriented more northwest to southeast.

The tornado watch for western Oklahoma has been expanded. In effect until 11 p.m.
