Florida Mudcutters

Florida Mudcutters Florida Mudcutters is a nonprofit club (IMBA-SORBA Chapter) representing the MTB community in SWFL

12/23/2025

We’re sharing this as a friendly but important reminder because we are unfortunately seeing similar unsanctioned trail modifications at Caloosahatchee Regional Park. The Florida Mudcutters have worked hard to build and maintain a strong, respectful partnership with Lee County Parks & Recreation, supported by a formal Memorandum of Understanding that outlines how trail modifications are requested, reviewed, and approved.

While the desire to help is appreciated, unsanctioned work puts that relationship—and our long-term access to the trails—at risk. If you’re passionate about improving the trails, we strongly encourage you to get involved with the club and collaborate through the established process so improvements align with the master trail plan and county requirements at Caloosahatchee Regional Park.

Yesterday’s grand opening of Shady Palms & Panther Pass at Caloosahatchee Regional Park was an incredible reminder of what this community can accomplish together. The turnout, energy, and support from riders, volunteers, members, sponsors, and partners made it a day worth celebrating and a milestone for trail building in Southwest Florida.

This project took countless volunteer hours, serious sweat equity, and the financial support of our members who believe in building and maintaining high-quality trails for everyone to enjoy. From swinging tools to backing the club through memberships and donations, this wouldn’t happen without you.

We’re also incredibly grateful for the sponsors and partners who support the Florida Mudcutters and help us turn ideas into real, rideable trails:

Florida State Championship series #7 + Coconut Cup #3 – Caloosahatchee Trails – Alva, Fl

https://goneriding.com/fsc-g/

The FSC series seems to be moving at lightning speed as round seven is now in the books and also the CC series is now up to round three. It was another very pleasant weekend for the racers of both series weather wise with mild temperatures in the low eighties and fast dry trail conditions. The Florida Mudcutters club did a great job prepping the trails and helping with the event, many thanks to the crew.

This course was similar to last weeks San Felasco course in that the speeds were high and there were two loops, a short (5 miles) and a long (11 miles) and depending on the class, riders would do various combinations to reach their scheduled mileage.

Also similar to last week was the battle for win in the elite men’s class as it boiled down to three riders going into the final short leg and result came out the same with Ryan Woodall claiming a close win. Darla Woodall was the winner in the women’s top class so the Neutral Service leaders jerseys will stay with the Woodall family going into the make up race in Hialeah.

Team “Muddy Santos Schredders / Santos Bike shop” came away from the weekend still holding a 10 point lead in the team championship and the Zboys $50 fast lap award went to Eric Oleson in the men’s 40+ expert class.

Next event is at Amelia Earhart park in Hialeah on 12-6/7 which is a Coconut Cup points race and a make up for the FSC (both events).
