Shoutout to the McKemy gang for helping move 3 more pallets of pavers out to Far East yesterday evening! 💪

That’s another 284 turf blocks (over 6,600 lbs of concrete) one step closer to being set and getting this project across the finish line.

🌿🚵 National Trails Day – Saturday (6/6) 🚵🌿

This Saturday is National Trails Day, and there’s no better way to celebrate than helping maintain the trails we all enjoy. After all, these trails don’t maintain themselves… though it would be a lot cooler if they did. 😂

Our focus will be string trimming Calcutta Ridge and/or Far East, depending on midweek progress. Summer growth doesn’t take weekends off, so we’ll be reclaiming trail corridor, improving sight lines, and keeping the trails open and rideable for everyone.

The work never stops this time of year, and every hour volunteered makes a difference. Whether you can stay for 30 minutes or the full morning, we’d love to have the help.

🚧🐓 Trail Work Day – Wednesday (6/3) 🚀🚧

We’re back at it Wednesday evening from 5:15 PM – 7:30 PM working on getting the Rooster Step Down one step closer to opening.

The goal is to move another 2 pallets of pavers and begin armoring the landing.

A lot of people have asked when this feature will be open. Trust us—we’re just as excited to ride it. 🤘 But there’s still plenty of work between here and the finish line.

More hands make light work. If you’ve been wanting to lend a hand, now’s a great time to jump in and help bring this project across the finish line.

Want to check current conditions before you ride? 🌦️🚵

The Florida Mudcutters own and maintain the weather station at the campground parking lot which provides updated weather data in 15 minute intervals 24/7.

🔍 Search for weather stations in Alva, Florida and select Caloosahatchee Regional Park
🌧️ Monitor rainfall totals, rainfall rates, and recent weather activity to help determine trail conditions before your ride.

⚠️Keep in mind that Caloosahatchee Regional Park Bike Park covers over 400 acres, so conditions can vary slightly across the park. The weather station is one of the best tools available, but we also recommend checking the radar—especially during summer when afternoon storms can be very localized.

Thanks to everyone helping protect the trails during wet season. A little planning goes a long way toward keeping the trails open and in good shape for everyone.🍻

🐓🚀 Trail Work Day - Saturday (5/30) 🪏🛠️

The Rooster Step Down rebuild keeps rolling.

This Saturday we’ll be working on armoring key sections of the feature and improving the climb-out for better drainage, durability, and flow. Every workday gets us closer to reopening this hand-built section and making it better than ever.

Whether you can stay for an hour or the entire morning, we’d love the help. More hands make light work, and projects like this only happen because riders step up and get involved.

Come help shape the future of CRP. 🤘🚵‍♂️

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Freedom isn’t free, and we’re forever grateful to those who gave everything in service to this country.

From all of us at Florida Mudcutters, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward.

Big thanks to Paradise Bicycles for using their platform to help spread awareness about trail maintenance and what it takes to keep Caloosahatchee Regional Park open through the summer months 🙌

The reality is vegetation growth in SWFL is relentless this time of year. If trails are left alone for too long, they can quickly become overgrown and difficult to recover once the rainy season ramps up.

The good news is the hard work over the last several years is paying off. We’re now going on year 4 of trying to keep the park rideable year-round, and we’re finally starting to see long-term progress. Invasive growth is being pushed back, native grasses are starting to establish, and routine maintenance is becoming more manageable.

But it only stays that way if we continue staying ahead of it.

That’s why messages like this matter. Even 2–3 hours a month from riders who love these trails goes a LONG way toward keeping the corridor open and reducing the massive recovery efforts later on.

We’re incredibly thankful for local businesses and community partners that understand the bigger picture and continue helping support the local trail scene 🤘

🌴 TRAIL WORK DAY — SATURDAY (5/23) 🌴

Summer growth is already starting to ramp up 😅 This weekend we’ll be focusing on vegetation management to help keep Caloosahatchee Regional Park open and rideable heading into the hotter months.

Expect string trimming, pole saw work, corridor clearing, and general trail maintenance. Keeping 13+ miles of trail open takes a ton of volunteer hours, equipment, fuel, and upkeep behind the scenes.
