This has been on my heart recently, so I wrote a blog about it. I hope you read the entire blog...it is very thought provoking about where we are headed.

What is our End Goal?

I heard about a book that came out late last year and knowing I would be soon leading WRW, thought it would be good to dig into. “Prophets, Politics & the Nation” by Emma Stark, put a perspective on our battle in America that I had not seen before.

For full disclosure, Emma is considered a prophet in Pentecostal circles and has had her share of controversy. I had heard her story of growing up in Ireland, a pastor’s kid, and what is known now as “The Troubles,” but didn’t realize there was so many similarities with what America was and is going through currently. It is a very good study on the subject.

In her introduction, she says “I grew up in Northern Ireland during the time of ‘The Troubles,’ a civil war that ran from the late 1960’s until Good Friday 1998. Car bombs, violent kneecappings, terrorism, fear, and hatred were almost inescapable. The deafening sound of the bomb that was planted near my father’s church, and which decimated our town center, will always live with me. The more gravesides that we each stood beside, the harder it became for the nation to forget-or to find peaceful, forward movement. “

More on the Fruit of the Spirit

LOVE is the first in the Fruit of the Spirit.

Last week I said ‘Love more than hate' (I didn’t realize I had so much hatred for people) I could teach for years on this, but I will spare you.

In this episode we explore the differences in the various words translated in English to the word 'Love.' and how this is something that becomes the outgrowth of who we are as we grow in our relationship with Christ and dig in to His word.

Now that I've completed the teaching on the Lust of the Flesh found in Galatians 5:19-21, I'm doing a bit of an intro into the teaching on the Fruit of the Spirit.

Next week I’ll dig into the fruit, but in this episode, I talk about my own journey and the desire to reflect Christ in all I do.

When I realized ‘drunkenness was the next evil in this list, I had to include the two after it in this podcast. Partly because I want to get to the Fruit of the Spirit, but also because these last three really do go hand in hand.

You probably don’t enjoy wild parties unless some sort of intoxicant is involved. One leads to the other, and these lead to ‘other sins like these.’
How do you even describe that last phrase ‘other sins like these?’ what other sins? Isn’t pretty much everything listed in these 3 verses? I can’t even imagine other sins that don’t fall under one of those headings.

Join me as I wrap up this awful list and head into the fruit..I can't wait to dig into those.

Galatians 5:19-21 includes both envy and jealousy. I've discussed jealousy and give a brief explanation here. Envy is a wicked sin, one I am very familiar with firsthand. it can be extremely destructive or actually a bit constructive.

While it may sound like something many of us don't think twice about, it is really about posturing to promote and involves something rampant in the church, self promotion. I truly hate to hear of his passing. Met him a few times, but knew of his amazing love for unity within our community. He organized so many events through the years and was such a good man. Fly high Mr. Bell, you are in your home now.
