Dear Melissa
My family has always gathered at my oldest sister’s house for Thanksgiving, and it’s usually something I look forward to, but this year, one of my other sisters, who I don’t get along with, is coming in from out of state. Things between us have been bad for a long time and I honestly don’t have the energy to pretend everything’s fine for the sake of a holiday meal. My husband has to work that day and I’m technically on call, so I could use that as an excuse not to go, but my little boy loves seeing his cousins and would be disappointed if we skipped it. Should I go and risk a miserable day? Or should I stay home and spare myself the stress?
