DETAILS: ***Update Friday, June 19, 2026- Through continued investigation by Amarillo Police Department Violent Crimes Detectives, Task Force Officers, and officers and professional staff from the Amarillo Regional Crime Center (ARCC), three additional arrests have been made in connection with the shooting that occurred on Wednesday at the apartment complex in the 5900 block of Plum Creek.
Davion Ashley, 18, was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Assault on a Peace Officer.
A second suspect, Jacob Jimenez Jr., 20, was identified during the investigation. Detectives obtained a warrant charging him with Tampering with Evidence. Jimenez was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the warrant, as well as on-view charges of Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Peace Officer, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG2 Over 4 Ounces, and Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.
A third suspect, Awetik Rahma, 18, was arrested on a warrant for Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

On June 18, 1877, the famous cattleman Charles Goodnight joined investor John G. Adair to establish the legendary JA Ranch in the Texas Panhandle.

Through their pioneering partnership, Goodnight would manage the ranch operations while Adair provided the financing. This marked the official start of one of the largest and most prominent ranching empires in Texas history!

Over its first few decades, the JA Ranch spanned nearly one million acres, ran over 100,000 cattle, introduced innovative breeding and ranching methods, and helped bring law and order to the frontier.
Goodnight's leadership transformed the JA into a cattle kingdom and model ranch. His grit, vision, and commitment to sustainable ranching paved the way for the permanent settlement of the Texas Panhandle.

We tip our hats to Charles Goodnight and the historic contract that launched this ranching legacy on the plains!

The JA Ranch headquarters area was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960.

In 1887, Goodnight established the Goodnight-Thayer Cattle Company in present Armstrong County and built a spacious, two-story, Folk-Victorian-style ranch house.
