🤠 Then Came... The Kid.

Years after the fastest Gunslinger match on record, a father and son sat down at a family gathering—cards dealt, eyes narrow, hearts steeled.

Conrad equipped a trusty Peacemaker.
Tiernan, the young gun, opened with a Shoot card.
Conrad, holding a defenseless hand, coolly tossed 1 Shell (Heart) into the pot—confident he'd outplay the greenhorn next round.

But the Kid had learned well.

Without hesitation, Tiernan played a Bleeder on his Good Ol’ Dad.
Conrad raised an eyebrow… and tossed in another Shell.

Then came a second Bleeder.
Conrad’s eyes widened—wider than the Rio Grande.
He gritted his teeth, and placed his final Shell in the pot.

Tiernan leaned across the table and whispered:
“How fast was that, Dad?” 😎

🕰️ 18 seconds.
A new record. A new legend.

🔫 Mechanic Monday: The Gunslinger Action Phase 🔫
Welcome to the Stare Down. No giggling. No flirting. THIS. IS. A. GUNFIGHT. 🤠

As an Action, each Gunslinger chooses 1 card from their hand.
That card must be either:
➡️ an Attack card (to shoot someone), or
➡️ an Item card (to equip yourself).

Hold your chosen card at eye level. Lock eyes with another Gunslinger. Look dangerous. Feel legendary. 🧨

Once all Gunslingers have their cards ready, the Dealer shouts:
“GO!!!” 💥
And everyone throws their cards!

🎯 Attack cards go in front of the targeted Gunslinger.
🛡️ Item cards are placed in front of yourself to equip.

🚫 Do not throw an Item card to another Gunslinger (even if they look like they need it).
🚫 Do not put an Attack card in front of yourself (dodging your own bullets is both painful and undignified).

💡 Pro Tip: Any card in your hand can be played as a Shoot card.
If you’ve got cards, you’ve got bullets. 🔫♠️

💥 Fastest Gunslinger Showdown: 23 Seconds! 💥
This legendary quickdraw happened between Conrad and Bill—and it was over before the dust even settled. 🤠

🔫 Conrad equipped a Sawed-Off Shotgun.
🔥 Bill opened with a Shoot card, but Conrad countered with a Combat Roll, negating the 1 damage.
🎯 Then Conrad fired back with a Shoot card of his own, discarding 1 card to deal 3 damage with the shotgun (instead of the usual 2).
💔 Bill looked at his hand… no defense in sight.
With a sigh, he tossed his three shells (Hearts) into the pot. Game over.

⚡️ 23 seconds. That’s Gunslinger speed.

🎯 Gunslinger Collectors!
Does anyone out there still have an original Gunslinger Trunk (left)?
There were only about twenty made! 🤠

The original featured illustration by Terry Crump and box design by Matt Melson and —a true piece of Dragons Fire Games history.

The current version (right) has about one hundred in existence (split between Black Hat and White Hat editions). The updated box and slide image were created by (Paul Revere Light & Sound)—and every single one was sanded, stained, and assembled by hand in Amarillo, Texas, right in the DFG garage. 🔨🌵
