Dear Melissa
My husband and I were having dinner last night when our 12-year-old daughter walked in with a guilty smile on her face. We questioned her for several minutes until she finally admitted she has a boyfriend. He is 14. My husband and I were shocked and had no idea she was even interested in boys. He told her that she is too young to date and must tell her boyfriend that they can only be friends. I think 12 is a bit young but also think if we tell her she can't date she might rebel, see this boy behind our back, and possibly get herself into trouble. She is an only child so we have nothing to go on in terms of making a decision. Is 12 years old too young to date?

I'm in a huge bind at work. I own a very well-known medium-sized company in town. My daughter's boyfriend is one of my top two sales people. She recently found out he cheated on her and now she wants me to fire him. I just found this out on Wednesday night. If I lose him I'm going to lose a large amount of money and have to fire several employees. If I keep him I may lose my daughter. What would you do if you were me … fire him or not?
