Few professions offer a clearer view of humanity than law enforcement.

This week's Hey Amarillo guest is Matt Adams of the Amarillo Police Department. Over the years, Matt has worked patrol, served as a school resource officer, spent time in the juvenile gang unit, and is now moving to homicide investigations. Each role has given him a different perspective on our community and the people who live here.

Our conversation covers everything from public perceptions of police officers to crime, community challenges, and the realities officers face today. But more than that, it's a conversation about people—the struggles they carry, the choices they make, and the grace that can be found in difficult situations.

Amarillo has its own publishing house—and it’s doing some really interesting work.

This week on Hey Amarillo, I talk with Ricky Treon of Blue Handle Publishing about how stories actually make it from your head to a bookshelf, what’s changed in media over the past decade, and what it takes to carve out something independent in a world dominated by big business.

Paige Nester has built something pretty special out in Canyon.

Her business, Creek House Honey Farm, is part apiary, part café, part event space, part shop—and somehow, it all works together beautifully. In this week’s episode, we talk about how she got started, how the business has grown and shifted over time, and the touching story behind that name (plus some really great history about the land itself).

And yes—we talk about bees. A lot. 🐝

It’s a thoughtful, funny, and genuinely interesting conversation about building something super successful, full of love and unique right here in the Texas Panhandle.

Judge Titiana Frausto knew she wanted to serve on the bench—she just didn’t know she’d get there so early in her career.

We talk about her work in criminal and family law, her appointment and election to the 181st District Court, and the moment she began to understand her role in representation as a young Black woman in this position.

It’s a thoughtful, grounded conversation about ambition, timing, and the responsibility that comes with both.

Some places are more than just restaurants—they’re part of your story growing up in Amarillo.

This week’s guest is Brent Epps, the owner of Sharky's Burrito Company. For more than 20 years, Sharky’s has been a local favorite, but Brent’s story in the restaurant world goes back even further—working his way up through some of Amarillo’s most well-loved spots.

What really stands out about Brent is how much he cares. Over the years, he’s given so many young people their first job, creating a place where they can learn, grow, and be part of something steady and welcoming.

We talk about the restaurant, the community around it, and what it means to build something that lasts.
