The "H" Tree was located on the banks of the Skunk River north of Ames, near today's Anderson Access. It was a graft of a red elm and a white elm and first grew in the late 18th century. Native Americans who lived in the area may have grafted the elms together to create a visual landmark. The site became a local wonder and many people took photographs standing in or near the tree. The tree succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease and was removed in 1986.

Roland-Story's Kade Blume is heading back to the state wrestling finals! Blume (35-0) defeated best friend Carson Doolittle of Webster City in the 2A semifinals at 113 Friday, 5-1. He faces Albia's Carter Anderson (45-1) for all the marbles tonight at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
