The Ames Tribune The Ames Tribune is a daily newspaper in Ames, Iowa, serving Story County. The Ames Tribune traces its roots to 1868 and a publication called The Intelligencer.

Over the decades, the newspaper underwent mergers and ownership changes, along with multiple name changes. The paper was first called The Tribune in 1911, and in 1919 became the Ames Daily Tribune when it merged with the competing Ames Times. The Ames Tribune has won many awards for its journalism, highlighted by the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing, won in 1997 by then-editor and co-owner Mic

Today, the Ames Tribune publishes a print edition each afternoon Tuesday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings; the Amestrib.com website; Ames Business Monthly; Facets magazine; Green Together; the Story County Sun; and other affiliated digital and print publications. The company is part of GateHouse Media. In addition to the Ames Tribune, the GateHouse Media includes the Boone News Republican, Nevada Journal, Tri-County Times, Story City Herald, Dallas County News, Northeast Dallas County Record and the Perry Chief.
