A little good news; I finally found time to have my car detailed...for the first time.

My local company, simply called "Details" did a fantastic job inside and out.

At last, miraculously found the way to attach the tail stock to my (new to me) vintage Rockwell lathe.
I had a small household project that required making a long cylindrical handle. I think it's about 36".
Only the second time actually using a lathe. The first time was more than 30 years ago, so I was very cautious spinning a long piece of white oak. I made an uneven octagonal shape with a hand plane, from a square piece before mounting.

Beginning work to repair one of my nice dining chairs. The top rail split to splinters on one side, and at the joint on the other.

Still haven't decided of I need to recarve a new section, or make repairs to the splintered side.
Which do you think would work best here?

Reparing a classically designed chair.
The top rail split near a joint. The back splat broke loose during the disaster. It looks like it had been minimally glued, but should remain free of attachment due to seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood.
The needlepoint seat covers replicate the patterns of those Martha Washington had in her Mt.Vernon estate.
