"I love you, Lexy. For me, this is forever..." 🌷✨

A decade before the freeze of Room #1207, spring in Ottawa held a love that was tender, honest, and devoted.
In May 1989, Alex boarded the train to Ottawa, leaving the GTA behind to visit Derek during his prestigious summer internship on Parliament Hill.
The capital city was completely ablaze with the annual Canadian Tulip Festival (), a historic floral tribute to liberation and sanctuary ().
Strolling through Major’s Hill Park, Lexy stopped along the path, looking at the flowers through the eyes of an artist—captivated by their symmetry and the curve of their petals.
Derek didn't just see the flowers; he saw her.
Later that evening, in his apartment off Elgin Street, he ran out and returned with a bottle of wine and a stunning bouquet of yellow tulips that moved her to tears. Wrapped in his arms, the youthful, tender harmonies of New Edition’s "Can You Stand the Rain" echoed the ultimate promise of their youth:
"I love you, Lexy. For me, this is forever..."
"I love you too, Derek. Yes, forever."
Derek was twenty-two, Lexy a mere nineteen. They didn't know the devastating psychological storms or the secrets that would test that exact vow for an entire decade. Under the Ottawa sun, their forever was just beginning.
