Congratulations to Golden Oak yearbook writers Darren Quave and Londyn Folse for their achievements at the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association’s Fall Invitational Writing Competition at LSU on Nov. 7. The two competed against schools from across the state. Quave placed 1st in Feature Writing and Folse placed 1st in News Writing and 2nd in Feature Writing. Congratulations! We are proud of you!

It’s almost time to distribute the 2025 Golden Oak yearbook! 📖 Did you know that yearbooks are dated the year they are published rather than when the school year begins?Ours is a fall distribution which allows us to include events that happen late in the school year, like baseball and graduation. The 2025 yearbook covers the 24-25 school year. Students will receive their books on Friday, Aug. 22. Here’s a look inside!

The Golden Oak Yearbook has been named the 2024 Louisiana Book of the Year by the Louisiana Journalism Education Association (JEA). Pictured with the staff are Walsworth Publishing representatives Bill Myers and Hannah Gist. Individual awards in writing, design & photography were awarded to 2024 grads Melina Givens, Presley McGraw and Mikayla Douglas, and current seniors, Luke Ray and Raylee Waskom. Louisiana Student Editor of the Year is Melina Givens, and Louisiana Advisor of the Year is teacher Kari Wheeler. Congratulations to the yearbook staff, past and present, on this hard won accomplishment!
