Jingles and possible trademark infringement aside, forget about the Copper Kings, the Copperheads are the 60-burger kings of the road after serving up another diet of punishment to go, this time in Kellogg, Idaho on Friday, Oct. 10 where Anaconda scored 10 touchdowns and change on their way to cooking up a 40-point win over the Wildcats.

In reviewing some of Anaconda’s great teams, athletes and coaches, it seems appropriate to focus on two individuals that were icons when it comes to overall sports and education. Patrick J. Connors and Michael F. O’Leary have to rank as two of the best. Their impact, especially in sports, dates back to the 1930s and lasted into the 1970s. They were not only friends but their legacy included almost all of the sports of their time. Interestingly, they were also products of competing communities that symbolized the best of both. A significant highlight of their paths would cross in the mid-1940s and continue throughout their lives.

But now we have a bonus question and this is a hard one, folks -- it might not even be googleable. Who was the first editor of the Anaconda Leader? Not publisher, that was our founder Dean Neitz; the first editor. First correct answer submitted to this post wins a free subscription to the print edition of our paper.
