Breaking Bad star Roy Frank “RJ” Mitte III died on Monday, Oct. 12. He was 34 years old.
Mitte, who played Walter White Jr. in the hit drama, died from su***de, according to a country official in Texas, TMZ reported. A death investigation is reportedly ongoing.
A spokesperson for Mitte confirmed his death in a statement. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte. Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion,” Mitte’s spokesperson said.
Mitte appeared in 56 episodes of Breaking Bad between 2008 and 2013, starring in all five seasons. He was also known for roles in The Oak Room, The Recall, and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).
His role as Walter White Jr. saw him evolve from a family-centered, innocent teenager into a disillusioned young man. The turning point for his character was when he found out about his father’s criminal empire, leaving him to reject his father, Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston.
