WAIT LANG! My heart was so conflicted on whether or not I should take my girls to see Forgotten Island.
I was able to screen it alone during a “grown-up night out” and I am SO thankful I did! 🍿✨
Taking a few days to reflect allowed me to make an intentional choice for our home: my youngest will pass, and my 6th grader can watch it... BUT only after we sat down and had a conversation. 🇵🇭
I narrowed down what really pulled at my heart after screening it. Honestly, I wouldn’t make a big deal out of this if it were any other movie. But this IS a big deal! It’s supporting Filipino stories on a massive HOLLYWOOD scale.
Even if it’s not 100% accurate.. I mean we have over 7,000 islands, so it’s never going to cover everything, lol 😅 it’s still so bittersweet and amazing to see our culture in the spotlight.
Because of that, I took the time to dissect it first. And after we finally watched the movie together, my daughter and I had such great, open conversations about it!
