We are now accepting submissions for Year Round Q***r’s Spring 2026 issue!!

This issue will focus on the concept of SEEDS. We cannot build a better world without planting what we want to grow. What have you been planting? Who taught you how to grow things? What must you do to create the conditions you need for growth? We want to hear and see it all.

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN UNTIL OCTOBER 15, 2025.

📣 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT! 🎉

Esse () grew up on Dena’ina land and is grateful to have always called Alaska home. They are a q***r, neurodivergent multi-media artist, educator, and survivor whose creative passions include collage, painting, zines, costumery, storytelling, and ceremony. Gemini sun, Scorpio moon, and Capricorn rising, Esse is drawn to contradictions, unsolvable questions, and things in transition. Their art often explores themes of human fragility and resilience, trauma and healing, griefwork and recovery. In the summer, they can be found frolicking in the flowers, harvesting medicinal teas, dreaming about blueberries, and belly laughing. Their greatest joy right now is tending to q***r friendships that are rooted in care, resistance, and creativity.

📣 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT! 🎉

The new issue (launching this Friday at The Nave!!) features a collage from — here’s what she has to say about this behind the scenes moment:

“This is from a craft night that I hosted in the rec room of my housing co-op! Making art in community is pretty much the only way I actually sit down and do it, and I’m so grateful for the group of crafters that has come together to do this together over the years! All are welcome to join our WhatsApp group, just dm me !!”

📢 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT! 🎉

Living in Alaska has brought home to themself and taught them the importance of grieving, every day. They remember learning that shame is attached to death, but now they feel how uniting death is. How intimate it is to know another is grieving. How beautiful it is to be in community with grief. Han is a Death Doula (), a griever, a spouse, a yoga teacher, and a community resource advocate. Their heartwork is connecting community, and poetry is the connective tissue of their work. They are coming home to themself.

See Han’s work in the Death issue of Year Round Q***r - available July 25 at The Nave!
