What a great week it has been! Alaska Power Association's October Workshops Week is wrapping up today in Anchorage and we are so excited about all the great interactions this week. Electric utility employees from around the state took part in the APA Accounting & Finance Workshop, the APA Alaska Electric Utility Legal Issues Workshop, and the ARECA Insurance Exchange Utility Accident Investigation Workshop.

All of these trainings are designed for professional development and to send attendees back to their electric utilities with enhanced skills and reenergized for their jobs.

The inaugural Alaska Power Association Alaska Director Academy is off and running in Cordova as part of the APA Annual Meeting. The Academy offers Alaska-specific topics for cooperative directors that provide information on topics such as electric utility history, legislative advocacy and working with the government, and deep dives into cooperative legal issues, among other topics.

The Alaska Director Academy is taught by APA Executive Director Crystal Enkvist, APA Deputy Director Michael Rovito, and APA General Counsel Andy Leman, and is the latest offering from Alaska Power Association.

When accidents happen, the investigation is an important part of the claims process. ARECA Insurance Exchange (AIE) is offering a workshop this fall that will give attendees the tools to conduct an accident investigation in a confident and successful manner.

The AIE Insurance Workshop Utility Accident Investigation Training, on October 17, will cover a variety of topics utility employees need to know before an accident investigation happens. This training is geared toward a range of employees, such as CEOs, safety managers, directors of operations, dispatch managers, line superintendents, and public relations personnel, among others
