The official start of meteorological summer is June 1, ironically that's also the first potential 60 degree day in the forecast for Anchorage.

Warm weather is set to build into the state next week, driving highs 10-15+ degrees above what we've been seeing. Until then a showery weather pattern, with storms and some sunshine is to be expected.

Summer looks to finally show up late. Glad to see that in the forecast because at the rate we were going Autumn already had rent paid and keys in hand.

While showers and storms remain with the state to close out the month, the warmth begins to arrive next week. Some of the warmest conditions will likely be in the Mat-Su Valley, Southeast and into the Interior.

Fun Fact: The warmest high we've seen so far this season has been in Southeast, specifically Klawock and near Helm Bay, where highs topped out at 82°. This stretch of warmth arrived in the first few days of May.

It's been a struggle this season to get any real warmth into the state, but that looks to finally come to an end. As we flip the calendar to June, Mother Nature looks to finally get the message that warmth should be building into the state. Are you ready for some 60s and 70s in areas that have yet to hit it?
