This is a big moment: we’re doing the final proof of Issue 10 and should start shipping in just a couple of weeks! 🎉🙌😭

It was meant to be the Winter issue, but will ultimately be the Spring issue because this winter has been so, so hard. Even so, we’re glad we stuck with it and have come out the other side. Thank you to everyone who has hung in there with us and continued to be excited about Wildheart after all this time.

Part 1 of 3

We normally don't announce the next theme until it’s fully fall, but we're letting you know earlier for our milestone TENTH ISSUE.

We also have another announcement: We made the decision earlier this summer that Issue 10 would be our last issue of Wildheart Magazine. That decision felt right for both of us and in alignment with the theme, which you'll find below. We appreciate every one of you who have shared your story with us over the last five years, and it has been an honor to publish them in print form for readers all over Alaska and the US. If you've ever wanted to see your story in Wildheart, this is your last chance!

Part 2 of 3

🖋 Our theme for Issue 10 is SYNCHRONICITY.

Psychology Today describes synchronicity as a phenomenon in which people interpret two separate—and seemingly unrelated—experiences as being meaningfully intertwined, even though there is no evidence that one led to the other or that the two events are linked in any other causal way. The concept was first introduced by analytical psychologist Carl G. Jung in the late ’20s/early ’30s. It’s been difficult for science to explain this idea of coincidences that can feel quite supernatural.

It’s a big word for those little moments that we’ve probably all had: Thinking about someone you haven’t talked to in years, and then receiving a text from them; seeing the same numbers while going about your day (11:11, for example); making a connection between events that feels like a sign. At times, it can be difficult to talk about these things because it’s hard to explain what they mean, but we want you to try! Let’s load up this issue with unexplainable moments of magic. ✨

Part 3 of 3

When we set out to create Wildheart, part of our motivation was to bring together a community that craved a space for their words to be published and use their words to connect with one another. It has felt nothing short of magical to see this community come together, most recently, lending a hand in unison when Jordan lost her husband last month. We are incredibly grateful for every supportive word, every share, and every dollar you contributed. Our sincere thanks go out to each and every one of you. 💛

Dear Wildhearts,

Our Editor in Chief, Jordan Bird, lost her husband, Jared, in a helicopter accident this week while fighting the Moose Fire in Idaho.

Jared was 36 years old, a veteran, an incredible pilot, a loving husband, and a great friend. Our hearts are broken.

Please consider clicking the link in our bio for details on how you can help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Fernanda.
