TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO PURSUIT & ARREST

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Evergreen Alabama police officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. After the initial approach, the suspect then fled. The vehicle failed to stop for emergency lights and sirens, while breaking multiple traffic laws. Roughly after a 30-mile pursuit from Conecuh County into Covington County, the vehicle was disabled by the deployment of spike strips by investigators with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office.

After the vehicle became disabled, the suspect was apprehended.

The suspect was identified as Christopher Franquiz, age 35, of Miami, FL.

Franquiz was arrested and charged with the following:

-Felony Attempting to Elude

-Unlawful Possession of Ma*****na 1st degree

-Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

He was also cited for multiple traffic violations.

Evergreen Police extended gratitude to the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Conecuh County Sheriff’s Office, River Falls Police Department & McKenzie Police Department for their assistance.

The suspect, Franquiz is currently being held on a $400,000.00 bond.
