Like most here know I post pretty rare but today is a Pretty cool day. Coming up on 11 yrs since the accident. Went from thinking I was never gonna play again to now getting a sort of Sponsorship from the company that makes my prosthetic parts. Thanks to Pat Prigge (My prosthetician dude and general god in my world): The company saw some of the early videos, read the story and then contacted ME about making my next piece entirely custom made to make the playing guitar time journey even easier. They asked me to be one of their Ambassadors / Patient clients to help promote and said “Hey…we’re so thrilled to bring you on board we’re gonna build you a new piece designed SPECIFICALLY for playing / better pic control”. I am beyond blown away. Today is about 3rd visit and should be done next few weeks.

Also been trying to just get a whole lot better at learning my recording software / video stuff so I’m hoping to have 20-30 video covers recorded well over the next few months!

One of the best parts of this journey of re learning lefty and simply appreciating it on an obvious whole new level has been a student I’ve had the last 2 yrs. Now not in the traditional way, didn’t go looking for a student with all of the obvious anxiety of simply playing again in front of anyone much less didn’t expect someone to look to me for lessons. The young man just 14 (His dad is one my dearest friends) reached out to me through dad with one of those statements that I don’t think he realizes the impact it had just having him ask me to help him get started.

So now 2yrs later I have to say I’ve never seen anyone take to it so naturally with so much determination. He probably can do just about EVERY Luke Combs song there is, about 100+ songs total. He’s playing at a level that is mind boggling. Oh yeah… he sings AND plays well together already. We typically “JAM” 2-3 x a month. The best part is he’s learning songs at such pace I’ve got to slow him down at times and say “Whoa whoa…slow it down for the old guy”. The student is teaching me stuff…and THATS cooool. So with a bunch of new little vids coming to the page soon (new camera) and learning my software further I’m hoping to have a bunch of new stuff solo and my new Jam Partner. We’re calling it just “Project MD” so far. We added a permanent chair for the kid and his own mic / boom arm.

7 Months after the injury - 1st fitting - 1st prosthetic (the one that now is modified as strictly the guitar piece as the new one is my daily functioning piece). The next one will be built and designed from the now modified version with way more pic control even yet. It should help my progress in leaps and bounds to where almost anything in pic format (some acoustic lead pickin) should be very attainable. This was at the time, without a doubt, the 1st little bit of sunshine in about 27 months. This is WHY these people are on the 'Pasta Forever' list!!

The Ironic twist: After I received my 1st prosthetic here in Nov of 15 I didn't hardly try to play until that 'Motivational Speaker' gave me the surfer girl story. MAYBE picked it up once every couple of weeks. Just never believed I would cross over the basic hurdles needed to strum to any decent level. 😎
