Our season has arrived. 😎

The one we’ve been waiting for all year. The one that makes us collectively exhale and think, “This is why we live here.”

Summer. There’s just a magic to it, and in this issue, we’re lighting up all the ways to enjoy it this June.

🍔 Inside, we chat with the new ownership team behind , who’ve stepped in to protect the one-of-a-kind counterculture spirit that’s defined it for generations while thoughtfully evolving it for the future.

⛳️ We head to to talk golf with Head Professional Eric Emmel about the simple adjustments that can transform your game. This August 20–23, Barton Hills will welcome the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, bringing 120 of the world’s top women golfers to Ann Arbor.

🍻 We also raise a glass to Ann Arbor’s thriving craft beverage scene, catching up with the makers behind some of the area’s most distinctive breweries and cideries, including , , , , and .

Our May issue is here and with it, celebrates one year of telling the stories of this community.

Someone once asked me how I find enough stories. The truth is, it’s never about finding them. It’s about choosing, - because there are SO MANY worth telling.

It’s not lost on me that this past year would not have been possible without the businesses who believed in this magazine from the very beginning - our Founding Partners - and the early partners who have helped us grow into what it is today. I am forever grateful.

But this magazine was never about me. It has always been about Ann Arbor.

And this month, we are filled with stories of people who chose their own paths and built something meaningful.

We begin with Crystle Partington of , who built her business the same way she builds her modern, natural landscapes: with drive, intention, and a team she works alongside, not above.

We spend time with , a century-old family business deeply rooted in this university town of ours. For generations, they’ve helped our community mark, celebrate, and carry forward life’s most meaningful moments.

We also step into the evolving work of artist Veta McFall of , who made her name with intricate black-and-white portraits of others, but now tells her own story with bold color, a messier - more instinctive approach, no rules, and entirely on her own terms.

We highlight the , an organization turning education, support, and advocacy into something deeply human and tangible.

And we close with Michelle Silverthorn of - speaker, author, workforce culture strategist - who reminds us it is never too late to reinvent and thrive.

If you think about it, “investing” really is all about what we choose to believe in. It’s not just financial - it’s personal. And in our community, it’s reflected in the arts we champion, the people we lift up, and the shared spaces that bring us together.

🎭 A commitment to the arts
We sit down with the one and only Jeff Daniels, whose commitment to Michigan and to the continues to elevate Midwestern voices and create space for original stories. If you’ve never been,it’s an absolute must - and well worth the short drive from Ann Arbor.

🚗 A business built on trust and people
We then chat with Joe Sesi of Sesi Lincoln, Volvo, and Mazda - one of the oldest Lincoln dealerships in the United States, founded with the support of Henry Ford himself. Talk to any customer (seriously, do it) and you’ll hear it: things are different here - in the best possible way. 80 years in, it’s not longevity - it’s the Sesi family’s investment in people, integrity, and community that set it apart.

❤️ A place to be near
We also step inside Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor, where being “near” becomes everything when a child is hospitalized - and where keeping families together during the most difficult moments is at the heart of it all. Volunteers and donors help create a true home away from home. (p.s. tickets are still available for the Red Shoe Affair)!

🛍️ The heartbeat of downtown
We close with a spotlight on Ashley Schafer of whose work connects downtown to the community - giving Ann Arbor that “small town charm, big city energy” we know and love.
