Rescheduling was the easy part. One order, two categories, a date everyone could circle.

But rescheduling isn’t done. On June 29th, the DEA opens a hearing on whether cannabis as a whole moves to Schedule III. Adult-use is still Schedule I today, and the questions that matter most have no date attached.

What does Schedule III medical mean for operators holding both medical and adult-use licenses, when half their business just became federally distinct from the other half?

If medical cannabis is Schedule III, pharmaceutical importers can handle Schedule III substances. What happens to domestic cultivators if international supply chains open before interstate commerce does?

And when interstate commerce arrives, because eventually it does, which state-licensed businesses are built to survive a national market, and which only exist because borders protected them?

The businesses that survive regulatory shifts aren’t the ones that predicted the outcome. They’re the ones that were ready for three of them.
