Poets in The Conversation Room with poet Mary Jo Bang!
St. John's College, Mellon Hall

Mary Jo Bang is the author of nine books of poems—including A Film in Which I Play Everyone, A Doll for Throwing, and Elegy, which received the National Book Critics Circle Award. She has published translations of Dante’s Inferno, illustrated by Henrik Drescher, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. She is also the translator of Colonies of Paradise: Poems by Matthias Göritz, and co-translator, with Yuki Tanaka, of A Kiss for the Absolute: Selected Poems of Shuzo Takiguchi. She teaches at Washington University in St. Louis.

The Conversation Room is located on the campus of St. John’s College, on the first floor of Mellon Hall, across from the Mitchell Art Museum. The reading series is made possible by the Rowsome family memorializing St. John’s Tutor Nancy Buchanauer, the Maryland State Arts Council, St. John’s College, Annapolis Home Magazine, and Friends of Poets in the Conversation Room.

We are pleased to announce the Face of Comfortable, Functional Interiors, Megan Reiley of Seriously Sari Interiors!

Megan Reiley has been creating spaces that her clients get to call home for the past 13 years. She has tackled a wide variety of projects, ranging from a remodel after a burst pipe, enlivening a traditional condo in downtown Annapolis, to a top-to-bottom redesign of an elegant waterfront home.

For Megan, each project is a unique opportunity to listen and interweave her clients’ tastes, experiences and dreams into designs that match their personalities. “My work has focused on creativity,” she says. “Making spaces more impactful, striking and colorful is an important part of what I do.”

But Megan considers the comfort and function of the space paramount to her designs. Clients rave about her ability to deliver interiors that are both usable and beautiful.

“It doesn’t have to be a tradeoff between function and appearance,” Megan assures. “It’s a given that the work I create for my client’s interiors will look good. More important is that it fits their lifestyle. I want them to enjoy not just looking at the results but getting pleasure from living in their new space.”
