It's with mixed emotions and considerable thought that the head brass at the 24 Seven Lax corporate office (Woody and Tom) announce that we've decided to shutter the website. After 5+ years covering lacrosse in the Baltimore area and beyond, we've decided not to renew our hosting and let the website fall into the oblivion of the world wide web's wasteland. Two of you have noticed that we haven't posted content on the site in quite some time and it just doesn't make sense at this point to pay rent for a space that we aren't contributing to.
With 6 kids, 2 wives, a dog and chinchilla between us, finding time to get out and about in a meaningful manner just isn't possible. We've prided ourselves on almost exclusively running with original content, which means being there in person to watch games, interview people and take photos. That is just time that is harder and harder to find these days. We continue to be huge fans of the game and have parlayed our experience in lacrosse media into a small photography business that takes up more and more of the time that is available.
We're thankful to have covered the sport that we love and carved out a small niche in the world of lacrosse media. We met a ton of genuinely gracious people in the sport and have been granted access to events big and small in that short time. Being in the press box at multiple National Championships, covering the MIAA and MPSSAA finals, the Bayhawks, the World Games, UA All-American games, and countless DI and DIII games are just some of the highlights that we'll reflect fondly upon. I think that we've brought a light-hearted look at the sport while simultaneously breaking some big stories in the game. Not being beholden to advertisers allowed us the freedom to write what we wanted, when we wanted to the consternation of a few and the enjoyment of many. A few of our posts went viral in the lacrosse world, but many more were seen and enjoyed by our small group of fans and that was fine with us.
While we'd like to think that it was our charm and good looks that allowed us access to the highest levels of the sport, the truth is that it was the people in the game that were so accommodating of two guys who had no background in journalism, but simply a love of the game to list as qualifications. A special thanks go out to the following people who have helped us along the way;
Terry Foy, Keely Knopp, Matt Kinnear, Ty Xanders, Casey Vock, Bob Wright, Tom Peace, John Strohsacker, Zach Babo, Craig Chase, Connor Wilson, Jeff Brunelle, Mark Dixon, Brian Reese, Marty Montorfano, Brian Casserly, Matt Moore, Ryan Demorest, Jason Goger, Greg and Mike Kenneally and many more.
Thanks to all those who read, shared, commented and followed our journey. We'll continue our social media presence and will continue to follow the sport in our own unique way with or without a website to call home.
