It's with the deepest regrets that the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company announces the untimely passing of Firefighter Ronald Redding.

In 2009, after a tragic fire struck his neighborhood, Brother Redding saw a void within our community and immediately knew he needed to help. Ronald, along with two of his sons, joined the fire service and the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company gained our "Pops."

Over the past 11 years, it would be difficult for anyone to find a member more dedicated to the fire company and our community as a whole. Whether it was driving the ambulance for our paid crews, cracking jokes to make us smile, making sure our volunteers were always welcome at UMES basketball games, or just lending an ear and standing around talking for hours, Ronald was always willing to help. A characteristic that extended far past the fire service, Ronald had a way of seeing when someone was in need and on many occasions gave so unselfishly in any way he could. In Ronald's presence, everyone was equal. Everyone's thoughts and viewpoints were heard and considered. In the most heated of times, whether on the fire ground or off, Ronald remained calm. His smile was infectious and he spoke with peace and wisdom, so often lost with many.

On Thursday morning, September 24th, the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company did not just lose an incredible firefighter, we lost a piece of ourselves. Details of final services will be forthcoming, but please continue to pray for us and for the family of Brother Redding.

For 49 years, the Fire Museum of Maryland has enjoyed great relationships with all our our neighbors. As you may know, the office building facing York Road was sold a couple of years ago.
The new owners are putting in new signage. We have been unable to reach an agreement about our longstanding Fire Museum sign with the new owners, and unfortunately, that means our old sign is being taken down as we explore new locations..
But we are still here and will continue to be here for our community.
So, as we begin removing our York Road sign, please remember that we're still in the rear of 1301 York Road, that we are open for the community, and will be here for many years to come! We're open every Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm all summer long.
The Fire Museum is a non-profit organization, and between the quarantine closure and the sign issue, we could really use some help right now. Your donations are always deeply appreciated. You may donate right through our website at www.firemuseummd.org/donate. You may call us directly at 410-321-7500 to make a credit card payment by phone. Or you may mail a check to The Fire Museum of Maryland, 1301 York Road, rear, Luthervile, MD 21093
