September Sturgeon Season!

The big ones are fun to target, and I hope someday you get to feel the power of a giant sturgeon!!
But, the small ones mixed in are so fun to catch (and help pass the time between the giants)! These smaller sturgeon show a healthy population to come, and are eager to bite! They are super unique from their smooth yet sandpapery skin, to their sharp spines that run down their body, often, these spines wear down on the big ones, and its interesting to see the difference between each fish

Have YOU ever caught a sturgeon?!

In early spring, people often catch into em while walleye fishing- but to go out and actually target the big ones is a whole experience!! This season is only open in Wisconsin during the month of September, and in specific locations. Get your rods ready, get the boat ready (and rest up for those hook sets because these gentle giants are a fierce fight)!

Not sure where to start?!
This is a perfect opportunity to book time with a guide - learn how to rig a rod for such a big bite, and handle that fish once it is on the hook! We were both lucky enough to catch into a pretty big fish (and some small ones, and some bonus smallies - more pics to come)!

I wish you could see how much fish slime is covering the boat in this picture.... After just one day of sturgeon fishing....! That's how you know the bite was on...... and it was a great day!

Hump Day!
Post 'em if you caught em!!

We have seen water temps drop in the last week and it had fish transitioning to fall/winter patterns. Water temps were consistent across the body of water we fished (and with all the rain and wind last week, that makes sense too). Anyways - fish were on the chew - and it's the time of year where you dont have to worry about "down sizing" your bait!

Did you make it out onto the water with friends?!
We were lucky enough to kick off the long weekend with a visit to one of our favorite people, Brian Clairmont
Spent a bit of time looking for perch, and explored a new spot or two for some panfish! What an awesome day with awesome people!
