Appalachian Vibes Radio Show from WNCW is going LIVE!

We’re taking over 3rd Street Coffeehouse in Roanoke, VA on the first Saturday of every month to bring hidden gems and incredible talent to a live audience. Expect in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes insight into songs, and authors showcasing their work — all recorded for broadcast.

The first live episode will be recorded Saturday, October 4th, 2025 — and you don’t want to miss this lineup:

Amelia Empson
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Southwestern Virginia. Her writing spans tales of young love and heartbreak to her deep love for her home in the Appalachian mountains. With her harrowing murder ballads, she’ll wreck your soul in the best way.

Adria Accomando
Young adult and new adult fiction author who published her first novel Violets Grey in 2023. She’ll be reading “The Sightings” — a chilling tale inspired by her childhood during a wave of UFO encounters in her hometown of New York.

Elsa Howell
A ballad singer, guitarist, and songwriter deeply rooted in Appalachian tradition. Mentored by ballad master Elizabeth LaPrelle through the Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program, Elsa has performed at the Richmond Folk Festival, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Taubman Museum of Art, and more. She blends tradition with originality, and her 2024 EP Eyes Wide showcases her hauntingly personal style.

Addie Levy is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and captivating singer-songwriter from Radford, Virginia. Raised in a musical family, she grew up playing mandolin and guitar with her dad, a musician himself, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. Now based in Nashville, Addie tours full-time with The Brothers Comatose and is preparing to headline her own tour this Fall.

On the latest episode of Appalachian Vibes Radio Show, Addie shares her journey — from small-town roots and high school sweetheart romance (she’s married to a fellow musician!) to life on the road filled with laughter, grit, and determination. This week has been exciting for Appalachian Vibes Radio Show from WNCW. My colleague Adria Accomando recently published her debut novel, Violet’s Gray. She read the first chapter and shared the intriguing UFO experiences she witnessed from her childhood that inspired the book. Along with her fascination for Ancient Aliens, which is the show she was watching when she got the idea for her novel.
