Condolences to Bryan's family and friends. He was a great musician and will be missed. R.I.P.
A Song Still Not Written
It starts with a life experience either witnessed or felt directly. That turns into words on a page. Those words desperately look for a melody, but not just any melody, one that has to fit exactly what mood those lyrics demand. Next, you can’t perform all the instruments or sing it yourself, so you look to others. That scary moment where you invite outsiders into your world. A naked and afraid moment. You second guess yourself, looking for any sign from the other person that they don’t approve, a twitch, an eye squint...anything that gives you an excuse to say, “maybe this isn’t a good idea.” Then it all comes together as a recorded art. The song then gets birthed out into the world. Yet another moment of susceptibility, of fear.
Bryan Bremer went through this every time he used his rare songwriting talent, yet he managed to write music that people from all walks of life, from L.A. to London, can relate with. He was a gracious host, a conduit for people in hopes of holding their hand thru a time they witnessed or felt the same as he.
On January 10th, Bryan Bremer unexpectedly passed on from our world.
Bryan was a gentle soul. The definition of a decent man, even in a world that challenged those decencies. His humor was not always gotten in the moment, yet minutes, days later, you laughed out loud, sometimes in the most inopportune moments. His loves were his Mom and Dad, Marcia and Gar (Momma and Dad Boxkar) along with his best friend and big brother Jim, who he looked to for big brother guidance. He loved his dogs and used his gentleness to care for dogs not cared for. He kicked your ass at foosball. His love language was music. He loved his band Fallout, where he cut his teeth in the performance world with his best college friends then eventually, Boxkar, where he toured the country and wrote three albums with his friend Christopher as his partner, with some of the area’s finest musicians, taking original music from their hearts to the masses around the country and parts of the world.
Bryan is now bearing new witness, the start of a song for a new audience. Only now, the anxiety that started every song, no longer exists.
The family wishes for a private closure, however, there will be a celebration of life on February 10th, his 50th birthday, at Bent Keg in Appleton, WI, (formerly Millcreek Blues, Boxkar’s home venue). There we will tell stories, laugh, cry, and hear some of his music performed by his friends through the years. All are invited. If you cannot make that celebration, feel free to join Boxkar on February 28th at Maloney’s to hear those songs he blessed us all with.
There was only one Bryan Bremer. We love and will miss you, "Brambles".
-Christopher
