Eight of the 10 booking options we started with Wednesday are now completely filled! We still have both 7 and 9 night options available in the Deluxe Junior Suites at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya. Because our friends at Travel Leaders contracted with the resort at last year‘s prices, these rooms are all about $400 less for a week than if you booked it directly with the resort. DO NOT WAIT! I’m guessing these rooms won’t last long either. Call Travel Leaders at 833-TO-TRIPS or click here… http://bit.ly/WAPLII

A big thank you to our 2021 International Incident travelers for their kindness and generosity. After losing two of our long time travel companions, Gary and Bob, to brain tumors this past year, you donated $350 to the American Brain Tumor Association. It was such a great trip. It was a damn shame that Gary and Bob had to miss it!

(My apologies. I posted this a couple weeks ago but I just noticed that it didn’t apparently show up here on FB.)

What a tremendous year it was for the WAPL lnternational lncident! After being totally unsure if it would even happen, it appears our group of about 130 had a phenomenal time and returned with 100% negative COVID tests. Hats off to Nikki and her extraordinary staff at the Sandos Finisterra. They work their asses off to keep the place COVID clean and all the while doing it with such good cheer, positive attitudes and delightful senses of humor. If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say how great the service was, I would have enough to spend an entire year at the Santos Finisterra.

Of course, I can’t say enough about our good friends and travel partners from Travel Leaders and Funjet Vacations; Betsy Stark, Katie Minch, Jon Prigge and the always amazing Isabell! Despite dealing with a few blips behind the scenes, everything ran smooth as could be and you never even saw them break a sweat.

And, as always, what a great group of listeners to travel with!

Hey, Cabo Wobblers,

Len here. By now you may have heard (or are just hearing) that I’ve been suspended from WAPL for awhile, at least, so I cannot join you on this year’s trip. I really regret that, but it’s an issue that WAPL and I are working through which will take time. No firm or final decisions have yet been reached. I ask that you not let it negatively affect your Cabo experience. Travel Leaders will make it a fantastic trip as always and Rick and John are well equipped (and thirsty enough) to hold down the WAPL fort without me. Your mission is to enjoy your vacation the way you guys always do. I remain hopeful that this isn’t the last you hear from me. I do have one request, however; please enjoy a spectacularly colorful and tasty tropical drink for me! - Len

Hi, I'm Kelly Radandt, General Manager of employee-owned Woodward Radio Group. This was not an easy decision to hit pause and take a moment as Len mentions. The timing couldn't have been worse. I get it. My hope is that you will go and have a good time and that next year we are back to partying together wherever the International Incident will be. Maybe I'll even be with all of you and you can give me a piece of your mind over drinks at the bar. Believe me...I didn't want this to happen. Anyway, we pride ourselves on being honest here and want to be with all of you. We do appreciate you. Please call me at (920) 831-5655 if you'd like to talk to me personally. Please have a good time on this trip. It's been a tough 11 months...you all deserve some fun in the sun.
- Kelly

So sad to report that Gary Neuber passed away yesterday. A few weeks before last year‘s international incident, I checked in with Gary to find out if that was going to be number eight or number nine. It was number nine. But he also added, in what seemed like a very Gary way, “I’ve got some s**t going on with my brain”.

Gary was in the process of being diagnosed for some kind of brain cancer. It didn’t stop him from going on the trip and it certainly didn’t seem to stop him from enjoying it. He was the picture of optimism. I checked in on him a couple of times in the months after trip and, from what he said, the treatments seem to be going well. I was happy to see that Gary and Cindy had signed up to make it number 10 this year in Cabo. But it was not to be. He was just 58.

Our deepest condolences to Cindy and to Gary‘s entire family.

ATTENTION BIG-HEARTED INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT TRAVELERS

In the past, WAPL International Incident travelers have been very generous by bringing along items to help children in the often impoverished areas that surround the beautiful resorts to which we travel. Our friends at Travel Leaders have contacted a service agency in the Los Cabos area to find out what children need today. This was their response...

“All the schools are currently closed and no gathering activities are allowed so we try to organize activities that can be done from home. On a regular basis, our team prepares packages for kids and families and we deliver them door to door keeping a safe distance”.

The ones with an * are the hot ticket items at the moment.

*Art supply kits (craft paper - paint - scissors - glue - color pencils - wood sticks - pipe cleaners - etc)
*Construction blocks (like Lego)
*Coloring books
*Games (cards - chess - uno - connect 4 - twister -snakes and ladders - dices - etc)
*Skipping ropes
*Marbles
*Reusable water bottles

*Dental kits (cool toothbrush + floss + special toothpaste)
*Cool face masks

School supplies
Lunch boxes
Kids band-aids
Barbies and accessories
Embroidery kit
Color chalks
Play dough
Journals
Stickers
Water guns
Puzzles
Badminton rackets
Caps
Shoes
T-shirts with cool signs printed on
Wool socks
Blankets

As always, your choice to participate or not is purely your own. But anything you choose to do is certainly is appreciated. Thank you in advance so much for your kindness.
