Day 2 of our SheJ Nicole Young story.

This is the part of the series we promised letting you in to the emotional side. In true Nicole fashion 🤣 the long version, in her own words. Pull up a chair.

"Long before I ever picked up a mic, I was a kid who got bullied pretty badly. But I never lost my love for people. If anything, it only made me want to understand them more deeply and live them harder. That part of me has never changed, and it's at the center of everything I do now.

I started out with no idea how to be a DJ or an entertainer. None. James took me under his wing during a really difficult, uncertain part of my life.

I'm a spiritual person, and around that time I had put it out into the universe that I wanted more weddings, more dancing, more joy in my life. Looking back, I believe everything fell apart exactly so the path could clear for this career to come in.

So I started with nothing and I just kept showing up. I learned everything from James. Over time I earned the trust of Corey and Zarren, and they started teaching me too. They showed me they will never gave up on me or eachother. 🥹 I've been blessed to learn from some of the best people in the industry, and they're not just my Yo DJ teammates. They're my family. All of them. We talk almost every day.

Along the way, I helped pave the road for our secondary DJs. James and I showed the whole company how much stress it relieves to run a primary and a secondary together, it's part of how we work now.

Then, almost overnight, I got pushed out of the nest 🫣 suddenly a primary, flying solo. And I will forever be grateful that my wife, Cami, jumped right in to be my partner and my secondary. She chose to stay by my side through all of it not just entertainment, and I truly couldn't do this without her.

My very first wedding on my own was for a family James and I had worked with. The bride wanted me so badly that when she found out I was striking out on my own, she gave up a deposit she'd already put down just to have me at her wedding. It's still one of the best weddings I've ever done. That's the moment I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

This job and these people breathed life into me at my most unsure time. I’ve met so many people that have impacted me for life through this career, thank you to all of you. I wouldn’t change a single thing and I will never give up on this…It saved me."

Day 1 of our SheJ Nicole spotlight: the craft.

In her own words…

"MCing is where I shine. My style is fun and nurturing, I command a room in a caring, kind and protective way. Before any event, I put in the work to learn my clients deeply: who they are, what matters to them, what their day is really about. That way I can get personal, and it never feels like I'm hosting from the outside, I'm right in it with them. I want everyone there feeling taken care of and celebrated at the same time.

I've always stood out. The tattoos, the pink or purple or orange hair, the big lashes, the colorful wardrobe. I love showing up and defying every assumption people make about my look with my knowledge and professionalism, my positivity and calm under pressure, and the way I read a room.

At the end of the day, it's the joy we get to bring people that keeps me going. That's the whole feeling for me."

Final day of our Djphatash Achraf spotlight: the human behind the booth.

When Ash isn't behind the decks, he's doing the other thing he loves most… getting people together. Usually around food.

He's a cook. And not just for himself 🫶🏽his favorite kind of cooking is the kind he does for his friends. Same instinct that drives him behind the booth: make something good, then watch people enjoy it together.

"Cooking and DJing are two of the few things where I can be completely in the moment. I enjoy every second of it."

Day 3 of our Djphatash Achraf Hajjej spotlight: a story that shows exactly how his mind works behind the booth.

In his own words.

"Once I get a good read on my crowd and realize there's a song everybody in that room would love, I don't play it right away. I build it up — so that when it finally drops, everyone is primed and ready to sing along.

At my last high school event, I spent the night priming the crowd for 'Beauty and a Beat' by Justin Bieber. By the time I played it, I was able to completely kill the music on my end and just let them sing the whole thing themselves. The energy in that room was undeniable.

Crowd control is my favorite game."

Day 2 of our Djphatash Achraf spotlight: his story.

This is the part of the series we promised…letting you in. In his own words. Have a seat.

"I've always been interested in music and wanted to do something with it. Then one day I went to help Zarren with a wedding… and I fell in love with it. All of it. From MCing and being part of making the couple's day, to DJing and having those fun interactions with the crowd.

From that day on, Zarren started sharing his knowledge with me and taught me the first things about being a DJ. He was the first person to believe in me and see potential in me 🥹 before I even saw it in myself.

Then I got introduced to the whole Yo DJ team, and they welcomed me with wide open arms. They guided me, helped me with anything I needed, and believed in me through my entire career. It's such a good feeling to be surrounded by a team that wants to see you succeed and thrive. To this day, everyone on the team is still mentoring me and pushing me to get better every single day.

And it's such an honor to officially be able to say: 'Hi, I'm Ash from Yo DJ.'"

Here it is in his own words.

"I'm best known for the energy I bring behind the booth, seamless transitions and scratching skills. When I'm back there, I'm not just playing tracks. I'm taking you with me on a musical journey, and the sky is the limit.

I love blending genres and playing not just the songs you wanted to hear, but the songs you didn't know you wanted to hear. My favorite part is when the crowd is singing along so loud you can barely hear the music coming out of the speakers."

Final day of our Corey Young spotlight: the human behind the booth.

When Corey isn't DJing a wedding, you'll usually find him at Road America, or another road course across the Midwest, with his two daughters and DJ James. Racing has become a shared family experience that goes far beyond the track.

For Corey, it's how he resets. When you're ripping past 120 mph with a sharp corner coming up fast, there's no room for anything except the moment in front of you. It quiets the noise and replaces it with complete focus, clarity, and presence.

What he loves most is the culture. It's one of the rare places where you can walk up to a total stranger, ask for help, and they'll do everything they can to get you back on track. People genuinely want to see each other succeed.

And that's the part that carries straight into his work. Racing taught him preparation, problem-solving, and staying calm under pressure, exactly what a wedding demands when there are hundreds of moving pieces and success depends on having a plan and being ready to adapt. More than that, it reinforced what he's always believed: a great event isn't about being the center of attention. It's about serving others and helping people fully enjoy their celebration.

In his words:

"At the end of the day, both racing and weddings are about people. Shared experiences, meaningful milestones, and surrounding yourself with people who genuinely want to see each other succeed. Those are values I carry with me both on the track and behind the booth."

Same focus on the track. Same focus behind the booth. Same belief that it was never about him…it's about ALL the people in the room.
