Bob and Neroli took over our Monday afternoon reggae show “River Daze” to talk about the upcoming festival this August 1-3rd in Piercy! ❤️💛💚 Neroli attended for the first time last year, and Bob has been going for decades. They are both excited to be there again this year! They discussed its history, the different world renowned artists that have come through, its cultural and economic relevance to the Southern Humboldt community, the history of reggae music in general / in our area, + more! Of course we also played a bunch of music with a heavy emphasis on artists playing on this years Friday line up 🫡🇯🇲

River Daze, which is usually hosted by DJ Mary Jane, airs Mondays from 12-2pm only on KHHA-LP FM. Next week, DJ Mary Jane will be airing music by artists performing Saturday, and then the following week she will highlight Sundays performers! 🫶🔥

Tomorrow (Sunday, July 13/10 a.m.) on Art Attitude, two interviews. For 22 years, StewART Studios has been in the Stewart School building’s basement, but must relocate by the end of August. This historic Arcata building is due to become a Healthcare Education Hub for Cal Poly Humboldt and College of the Redwoods. Wendy Butler speaks with StewART artists Patricia Sennott, Libby George, Carol Andersen, Joyce Jonté, Laura Corsiglia and Steven Vander Meer. Also, the Baduwa’t Festival presents Red Light Cabaret July 18-19. Director Cleo DeOrio interviews by Zoom from her summer teaching gig in Alaska. Life’s too serious to be taken so ... seriously. Thank you to David Hamilton and Calder Johnson for being Wendy Butler's guests on Art Attitude this morning (July 6). These two are part of the four-person directing team; they are also cast members. Plus, Hamilton is the scenic designer and Johnson is responsible for costume design. A unique thing about North Coast Repertory Theatre's production of "Romeo and Juliet" is it has a four-person directing team. Today's (June 29) Art Attitude now available for listening at https://spinitron.com/Humboldt-Hot-Air/pl/20866276/Art-Attitude is about “Ceramics At The Laundry," a book of reflective writings by many Cal Poly Humboldt students who were part of the university’s ceramics program’s 50-year history (1970-2020) in the former Arcata Laundry building on property next to the university campus. The laundry gave students a needed sense of community and nurtured their creative freedom. Keith Schneider and Lou Marak were longtime Cal Poly Humboldt art professors who spent days and nights in the laundry. They helped create this book. They are Wendy Butler's guests.
